Exploring New Horizons Partnering with Industry to Build a Commodity Trading & High-Value Supply Chain Ecosystem
On June 24, the Janco team met with Legislative Council Member Mr Chung Chi-fung, representing the import-export sector, to engage in in-depth and constructive discussions on how Hong Kong can establish a commodity trading ecosystem and a high-value supply chain service hub under the China’s 15th Five-Year Plan.
💡 Key Highlights & Initiatives
- Proactive Alignment with National Planning: Leveraging Hong Kong’s strengths in the LME (London Metal Exchange), CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange), its financial hub status, and common law system, Janco advocates building the most resilient supply chains for precious metals, non-ferrous metals, and rare earths — enhancing international commodity market pricing power.
- Establishing a Five-Hour “Super Arbitrage Hub”: Hong Kong is uniquely positioned as the only global location capable of physical delivery across five exchanges within five hours (LME, CME, SHFE, INE, QME). Janco proposes developing a Greater Bay Area commodity pricing center, trade finance hub, and logistics & supply chain management hub.
- Green Metals Going Global: Janco suggests introducing small-scale refining (primary + recycled metals) at Lung Kwu Tan or EcoPark, setting process and emission standards for “green metals,” and promoting them across Belt and Road countries.

- 🧠 Policy Advisor | Kammy Leung (Advisor of Janco Holdings) Kammy contributed policy expertise, emphasizing supply chain financing and commodity trading strategies. He analyzed how Hong Kong can shift from “passive reception” to “proactive alignment,” guiding industry transformation.
- ⚡ E-Commerce Synergy | Adams Szeto (General Manager of Janco E-Commerce Solutions) Adams emphasized that digital e-commerce solutions are key to future commodity logistics — supporting delivery, warehousing, and cross-border settlement in high-value supply chains.
We sincerely thank Legislator Mr Chung Chi-fung for attentively listening to industry voices during the meeting. He emphasized that emerging markets in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa have strong demand for Hong Kong’s quality products and professional services. He highlighted Hong Kong’s role as a “super connector” and encouraged proactive engagement in regional cooperation.
Against the backdrop of the China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and the Belt and Road Initiative, Hong Kong is entering a pivotal stage of transformation — from traditional logistics to high-value supply chain services. Janco is committed to seizing this opportunity, further integrating into commodity trading and supply chain ecosystems, and reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a “super connector” to build a more efficient, sustainable, and globally competitive supply chain system.
